How to Change Bitcoin
Bitcoin is still figuring out how to upgrade. Upgrading bitcoin is challenging because some portion of bitcoin stakeholders (users, economic nodes, miners, exchanges, developers) have to be in harmony. If you don’t have enough support, you could always try to get people to run a separate version of bitcoin, but it would split the bitcoin community, and your version might not get enough adoption.
Here’s my principle on how changes to bitcoin should be made:
Bitcoin changes should be made carefully. People should try to break bitcoin using a proposed change. Any change integrated into bitcoin should have a clear utility that serves bitcoin’s purpose.
